How can I create and use custom templates in my school’s workbook library as an educator?

Toddle’s Workbook library allows schools to create and share custom workbook templates within the school community. As an educator, you can contribute new templates to your school library or access those created by colleagues, making it simpler to find and use resources that align with your school’s curriculum and teaching needs.

💡Please note that this feature is currently only available on Toddle Web.

Contributing new templates to the school workbook library

Workbook templates are created for individual curricula via the class.

To begin, navigate to the ‘Assignments’ page for your preferred class. Then, create a new task by selecting the appropriate task type.

Next, click on the ‘Create a workbook’ option under the ‘Submission template’ section, as highlighted below.

From here, create a new blank workbook using the option highlighted below. Alternatively, select an existing school template or one from the Toddle library to modify and save as a new template copy.

Based on your template choice, you will be directed to a blank or pre-filled workbook page, where you can use the available features to design/update your template.

Once your workbook is ready, click the arrow next to the ‘Save’ button and press ‘Save as template’.

Note that once the template is published, all teachers within the selected curriculum can instantly view and use it from their workbook library. However, only you (the creator) or other administrators will be able to edit or delete the original template.

Your newly created template will then appear in the ‘School templates’ section alongside other templates created by teachers and/or administrators. Each template displays the creator’s name for easy identification, as highlighted below.

Modifying templates

You can modify the original templates created by you in two ways:

  • Via the three-dot menu

  • Via the template page

Via the three-dot menu

Click on ‘Edit original template’ from the three-dot menu.

Once you have made the necessary edits, click on ‘Save template’ to update the original template.

A pop-up window will then appear, giving you the option to either continue editing or overwrite the original template.

Choose your preferred option and confirm your selection.

Via the template page

Directly click on the template you would like to modify.

Once you have made the necessary edits, click the arrow next to the ‘Save’ button and press ‘Save as template’.

A pop-up window will then appear, giving you the option to either save the modified template as a new template copy or overwrite the original.

Choose your preferred option and confirm your selection.

Using templates from the school workbook library

As an educator, you can use workbook templates created by colleagues in your curriculum. Simply click any of the templates from your school’s workbook library and start using it. Alternatively, select ‘Use template’ from the three-dot menu.

The template will open for your use. Make changes to it as per your needs and hit ‘Save’.

💡Any edits you make to this copy will not affect the original template.

Once done, your submission template will be added to your assignment for students’ use. You can choose to include multiple workbook templates using the same process.
