How can I configure Score aggregation for my curriculum?
Updated over 2 weeks ago

Toddle provides you with an intuitive interface to configure the academic setup for your curriculum, such as setting up grading periods, grading methods, grade boundaries, score calculation methods and more.

In Gradebook and Progress reports, teachers, students, and families can view both individual subject performance and aggregated scores across subjects. As an admin, you can select which subjects to include in score aggregation for each grading period. You can also manage calculation settings, such as decimal precision and whether scores are truncated or rounded off. Read this article to understand how you can set up score aggregation on Toddle!

Configuring score aggregation

In the admin portal, scroll to the ‘Programme level configurations’ section and click on ‘Academic setup’ for your curriculum.

Once you enter the ‘Grading setup’, simply click on ‘Score aggregation’ in the left pane.

At the top, you will find a toggle for calculating aggregate scores. Ensure this is enabled to start configuring the aggregation of scores.

Now, click the arrow icon next to ‘Overall score’ to configure its aggregate calculation. For each grading period and grade level of your curriculum, you can set:

  1. The calculation type for the overall score across subjects: ‘Total,’ ‘Average,’ or both.

  2. Which subjects to include in these calculations. Note that the subject selection will apply to both Total and Average calculations.

On the landing page, you will see all grades of your curriculum in the left pane, and the grading periods with a list of subjects on the right. Select a grade from the left pane, then click 'Edit' to choose whether to calculate the Total, Average, or both for the aggregation, for each grading period.

After selecting the aggregation type, choose the subjects to be included in the aggregation. If you don't want a subject to be included, leave it unchecked.

Additionally, you can click on the three-dot menu against a grading period to bulk apply the same configuration to other grading periods for that particular grade. Once done, click ‘Save to finalise the configuration.

Back on the ‘Score aggregation’ page, click the gear icon against ‘Overall score’ to manage its calculation settings.

Here, you can configure the settings individually for ‘Total’ and ‘Average’ calculations. Choose the number of decimal values to be shown and whether you want to round the scores (based on traditional rounding methods) or truncate them (cutting off decimal points without rounding).

After the configurations are done, the aggregates will appear in the Progress summary section of the progress report, taking into account the scores of the subjects selected.

Please note that any score or grade marked with a ‘•’ will be excluded from the aggregation. This indicates that the corresponding subject has not been selected for aggregation in the Academic setup.

The aggregated totals and/or averages across subjects will also be displayed in the student gradebook for each grading period.
