Toddle supports integrations with external learning tools, providing students and teachers with seamless access to the resources they regularly utilize. In this article, we will explore how Toddle integrates with ClickView.
This article will cover:
Set up ClickView in Toddle
As an admin, you can now add tools from Toddle’s pre-configured catalog or set up custom LTI integrations that support the LTI 1.1 or 1.3 standard.
To begin:
Navigate to Admin portal→School setup→LTI apps
Click the ‘+Add’ button. You will see two options:
Add from catalog- For tools already supported by Toddle (ClickView, EdPuzzle, H5P, etc.)
Add custom app- For tools not in the catalog but that support the LTI 1.1 or 1.3 standard.
Option 1: Configure using ‘Add from catalog’
Select the LTI tool from Toddle’s catalog (e.g, ClickView).
Select the curriculum(s) you want to set it up for.
Choose the appropriate ‘Version’ from the dropdown. Click ‘Save and next’.
Enter the required credentials (client key, shared secret) provided by ClickView.
Toggle ‘Allow grade passback’ to enable scores from the LTI tool (e.g. quiz results) to flow back into Toddle’s gradebook.
Use the checkbox to enable the tool for teachers. Click ‘Save’ to complete the setup.
The integration will appear as a card showing the tool name, configured curriculums, LTI version, and its status (enabled or disabled for the teachers). From this card, you can view details of the integration, edit the settings, or delete the tool if required.
Option 2: Configure using ‘Add custom app’
Select the curriculum(s) and the LTI version (1.1 or 1.3).
Enter a name for your LTI tool and click ‘Save and next’.
Generate and enter the required credentials. For some tools, Toddle generates credentials that can be copied and pasted into the required fields. For others, credentials need to be obtained from the tool’s portal. The mandatory fields include:
Initiate login URL
Launch/Redirect URL
Keyset URL
Add an Icon URL (optional). This icon will be displayed on the LTI card.
Add any custom parameters if required. These are additional values that can be passed from Toddle to the LTI tool to customize how the integration works. The type of parameters depends on the LTI tool; some tools may provide specific keys (e.g., lti_integration_id=xxxxx ), while others may not require any.
Choose a Placement type:
Assignments – Select this for tools that are meant to be used within tasks, such as video or quiz tools. These tools will only appear when teachers create or manage assignments (e.g., EdPuzzle, ClickView, H5P, Wayground).
Course – Select this for tools that provide a shared workspace or resources such as note-taking or collaboration tools (e.g., OneNote). This placement makes the tool visible in the course navigation instead of within assignments.
Toggle these settings if needed:
Allow grade passback – When enabled, scores from the LTI tool (for example, quiz results) will automatically flow into Toddle’s gradebook for the assignments where the tool is added.
Allow roster access – When enabled, the LTI tool can access the class-wise list of all students and teachers rostered in the curriculum where the tool is launched. This allows the tool to recognize and match users correctly.
Configure Advanced settings (as supported by the tool):
Choose a launch type:
Basic launch – Opens the tool or a specific resource/activity in a new tab or inside Toddle.
Deep linking – Allows teachers to pick specific resources (such as quizzes or videos) from the tool and embed them directly inside Toddle.
Select a privacy level:
Private – Shares only minimal information (anonymous IDs) of both teachers and students with the integrated LTI tool.
Public – Shares full details (such as name and email) of both teachers and students with the integrated LTI tool.
Toggle these settings if needed:
Allow reading results – Lets the LTI tool fetch stored results (scores) from Toddle. This usually includes assignment scores and is useful when the tool needs access to performance data for analytics or progress tracking.
Allow reading gradebook columns – Lets the LTI tool read the gradebook structure itself (for example, assignment titles, due dates, and categories). This helps the tool know where to place scores or how to align results with existing assignments.
Use the checkbox to enable the tool for teachers. Click ‘Save’ to complete setup.
The integration will appear as a card showing the tool name, configured curriculums, LTI version, and its status (enabled or disabled for the teachers). From this card, you can view details of the integration, edit the settings, or delete the tool if required.
Use ClickView in the classroom
As an educator, you can incorporate integrated ClickView into your classroom by adding it to the submission template when creating class assignments. Here's how you can do it:
Click on ‘Add an external tool’ within the submission template.
Select ClickView.
Note: You might need to sign up or log in, depending on the tool you are using.
When you choose ClickView under the submission template, it opens directly within Toddle, providing access to a vast library of educational videos.
Note: The way it opens depends on the tool itself; some tools open inside Toddle (embedded in an iframe), while others open in a new tab.
Select a relevant video for your class task and click on the ‘Embed video’ option to add it to your assignment on Toddle.
In the pop-up, you can configure settings such as video size and autoplay before clicking ‘Embed’ to finalize the process.
Once embedded, the video will be added as a submission template, where you can rename or remove it using the three-dot menu. Click ‘Assign’ when you're ready.
Note: Scores from ClickView will flow into Toddle’s gradebook only if the ‘Allow grade passback’ setting is enabled during setup in Toddle. The scores will automatically scale according to the maximum score set for the assignment in Toddle.
View at the students’ end
Once you assign the task, students can see the ClickView attachment in their assigned task. In the ‘Your response’ section, they can click on the ‘Add’ button to begin interacting with the content.
Students can watch the assigned video within Toddle. If the video contains embedded quizzes, students will be prompted to answer them as they progress through the content.
Once students complete the video and quizzes, they can review their answers and submit them. They also have the option to continue watching the video if needed before finalizing their submission.
After submitting their responses, students must click ‘Mark as done’ to indicate that they have completed the assignment.
After submission, you can check out the responses given by the student as well as the marks scored by the student from the ‘All submissions’ tab.
The submitted responses will include the student's quiz scores from ClickView, which will be automatically scaled according to the maximum score set for the assignment in Toddle.
If ‘Allow grade passback’ was enabled during setup, the student’s quiz scores from ClickView will automatically flow into Toddle’s gradebook and be scaled according to the maximum score set for the assignment.
You can provide additional feedback, assess performance, and mark the submission as evaluated, just like any other assignment on Toddle.
Note: Responses linked to external tools cannot be added as portfolio posts or downloaded.
